Alpha-Yohimbine- The compound Yohimbine is a the active chemical element of the medicinal herb Pausinystalia yohimbe. It is considered to be a stimulant drug and reportedly has aphrodisiac properties. Yohimbine in its hydrochloride form is the standard form approved by the NIH and available as a prescription drug. Another form of Yohimbine, Alpha yohimbine is available which is said to be a step ahead of yohimbine hydrochloride by eliminating several side effets. Alpha yohimbine works as an amphetamine-potentiator. This means it prevents the neuro-breakdown of the brains neuroransmitters – serotonin, noradrenaline and dopamine. This is an action similar to yohimbine hydrochloride, but it is less vasoconstructive, meaning it is less likely to result in excessive increases in blood pressure.
